The Joseon Dynasty, founded more than 600 years ago, set Seoul as its capital and built several palaces to serve as the backbone of the country's management. Seoul currently has five palaces: Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, and Gyeonghuigung Palace. These palaces are representative places that symbolize Korea, and among them, Changdeokgung Palace, along with Jongmyo Shrine, is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is attracting attention from around the world.
